A Storyteller...

I am an award-winning Film & TV director with nearly ten years experience directing and over twenty since starting in the industry.

Every aspect of the creative process fascinates and delights me - scripting, performance, visual inventiveness and editing are all equally important in telling the story the best it can be told.  That, after all, is the director's job...

From the Cutting Room...

Since first experimenting with video editing aged 19 the art of visual story telling captivated me.  Starting my career in the cutting rooms gave me a complete understanding of the building blocks of film.  Continuing my education at the Bournemouth Filmschool and the BBC has helped me refine my talent.  Hours of finished programming have given me the experience to flourish in all situations and adapt to any circumstance.

 Experience counts...

Working as an editor taught me both about performance - closely watching subtlety and nuance - and how to construct sequences effectively and economically, avoiding over-shooting and best spending my shooting time.  My love of the movies and my creative eye have informed the aesthetic of what I shoot.  My experience marries these two and enables me to convey them successfully on screen.

I have the best job in the world.  I love what I do and this pleasure communicates to cast and crew.  When a unit is enjoying itself that enjoyment shines through in quality on screen.  I am a natural motivator and leader but allow all members of my team to excel in their individual fields for the benefit of the finished piece and my depth of experience means I keep a cool head in the face of unexpected adversity - which can be every day when shooting.

For what it's worth...

I have been described by one producer I have worked with regularly as 'the most naturally talented director they have ever worked with'.  Hopefully this site will go some way to show what they mean.
